Finding Budget Prices for a Luxury Destination
Are you struggling to find the perfect holiday on a budget? Not to worry, we have you covered! Maybe you haven’t even heard of your dream destination yet and you’re just looking around trying to find a magical place with clear sea, if this is you, you’re in luck! Our guide below will hopefully give you an insight into some of the most beautiful places on earth. One of them if not more may even turn into the perfect 2020 holiday destination for you.
Destination 1 – Cancun, Mexico
WHY: Cancun is the home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches consisting of white sand, warm turquoise sea and multi-coloured fish of all shapes and sizes.
TUI Group offers direct flights from the UK to Cancun International Airport for around £300 in the cheapest months (usually January). This means the city can be easily accessed on a budget.
Although Cancun is populated with luxury, expensive hotels, it definitely has its share of elegant cheaper ones. For example, Mayan Monkey Cancun, Hostel Natura and Beachscape Kin Ha Villas & Suites. These three hotels are all located in the Hotel Zone beside the larger more expensive hotels, meaning they share the same beaches and views but for a quarter of the price.
The Hotel Zone is the perfect destination to be if you are wanting to take part in tourist activities like boat trips. It has its own pier which is a common area for the boats to depart from. Canun is a packed full of beautiful waters and wildlife, whether taking a trip to Isla Mujeres and swimming with dolphins, sharks or stingrays takes your fancy or making your way down to Xel-Ha Park to spend the day snorkelling in the caves, rivers and of course the ocean.
Destination 2 – Queensland, Australia
WHY: If you’re living in the UK and have been watching I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, you will have seen that beautiful beach located in Queensland which is full of sandbanks and aqua waters.
We all know that the cities are expensive, so, thankfully, Queensland has the choice of cheaper accommodation. You can find hostels in the area for prices around £15 per night. Although if a hostel isn’t for you, there are low price hotels like PK’s Jungle Village with prices starting at £17 per night which will keep the cost of your holiday down massively.
The bulk of the overall price of the holiday will most likely be the flights. The average price for flights to Brisbane is around £1000, but after doing your research you may be able to find flights for around £500. For example in November 2020, there are flights available with China Eastern Airlines for £546.98.
Keeping the price of activities underneath £20 can be difficult but here are some ideas ranging from as little as £5 all the way to £20:
- Sunset Sailing Cruises
- Stand up Paddleboard Lessons
- Gold Coast SkyPoint Observation Deck
Destination 3 – Belize, Central America
WHY: Belize is located in Central America and it is bordered to the north by Mexico. The Caribbean Sea hugs the Belize shore and the world’s second-largest barrier reef skims along the coast for 240 miles. Best known for the giant marine sinkhole which lies just off the coastline.
Although the country is quite poor, the area is an expensive place to travel to. The cost of hotels generally is a lot more expensive than you would expect with the average being around £150 per night. But, you can find hostels and hotels in the area for around £70 per night, for example, Travellers Palm Backpackers Hostel and Sapphires Beach Resort.
February tends to be the cheapest month to visit Belize with flight prices under £500. This is great considering the best time to visit the beautiful country falls between November and April.
Belize is jam-packed full of various activities available and popular to tourists. Why not try taking a trip to Caye Caulker? This area is filled with reggae-locals and the amazing Caribbean atmosphere making it feel more magical. Also, snorkelling with sharks is a common day trip along with diving in the deep blue hole.
Destination 4 – Phi Phi Islands, Thailand
WHY: The Phi Phi Islands are everyone’s dream destination. They were made famous after Danny Boyles movie: The Beach, starring Leonardo De Caprio which was filmed at Maya Bay.
With the Phi Phi Islands being a popular tourist destination, the prices seem to be quite high, but of course, there are some cheaper hotels available. Ibiza House stands at £27 per night, similarly to Phuphaya Seaview Resort which is £25 per night. There are a lot of hotels cheaper than these if you were to stay on surrounding islands like the Boat Lagoon Resort in Phuket.
Flights from the UK to Phuket range in price and in time. Emirates tends to be one of the cheapest airlines with return tickets for under £550. Although, Jack’s Flight Club is a great way to find cheaper tickets, previously tickets from the UK to Thailand have been around £300.
When visiting the Phi Phi Islands you can’t miss out a visit to Maya Bay. The beautiful bay which is seen on pictures and postcards is a no brainer when visiting the area. The clear aqua waters and tall cliffs make it look like it is something unreal. Along with this, make sure you take a walk around the island. Take in all of the scenery and make the most of the wildlife and your surroundings.
